HIGH-PRESSURE vs. HIGH-VOLUME FLOOR & HAND PUMPS

HIGH-PRESSURE vs. HIGH-VOLUME FLOOR & HAND PUMPS

Whether you’re repairing a puncture, upgrading your current bike setup, or adding pre-ride top-offs, inflation is a crucial aspect for an enjoyable ride–vand important to do right. Understanding the differences between Lezyne HV and HP bike pumps, along with your specific tire pressure requirements will assist you when choosing your next Lezyne floor or hand pump.

Lezyne offers a range of floor and hand pumps in both High-Volume and High-Pressure versions, marked with an HV or HP.

HIGH-VOLUME PUMPS

HV or High-Volume pumps are constructed with larger diameter barrels and pistons. Therefore with every stroke, you’re moving a larger volume of air into the tire than high-pressure pumps. As a result your tire is inflated faster, saving you time. HV pumps are suitable for larger volume tires requiring pressures between 5 and 100 psi and are capable of achieving a maximum pressure of up to 100 psi (~7 bar).

  • Larger diameter barrels
  • Moves a larger volume of air
  • Achieves desired pressure faster
  • High-volume applications
  • Max 100 psi (~7 bar)

HIGH-PRESSURE PUMPS

HP or High-Pressure pumps on the other hand, are designed to achieve much higher pressures overall and require less effort in doing so, hence the tagline, “Easy Inflation”. HP pumps are suitable for tires regularly requiring pressures over ~80 psi and are capable of achieving pressures up to a maximum of 160 psi (~11 bar).

  • High-pressure applications
  • Require less effort
  • Achieves desired pressure more easily
  • Max 160 psi (~11 bar)
