ABOUT THE AWARD
The Design & Innovation Award is both a seal of approval and the benchmark achievement for the bike industry’s highest-performing products. The Design & Innovation Award is more than just a title-giver or a round of applause for brands. It’s the definitive award that decisively tests products in the real world, assessing them in their entirety and reaching considered verdicts. This year once again saw select international journalists, professional test riders, and industry experts invest more than 6,000 hours of their time to partake in the DI.A process.
The end of guessing what tire pressure you’re riding while out on the trails has arrived! Setting a new benchmark, the Lezyne Digital Micro Floor Drive HV is one of the first pumps of its size to include a digital pressure gauge that gives an accurate reading of tire pressure. This new development will certainly be appreciated by those who have cursed the unreliable gauges on certain pumps in the past. Lezyne’s premium aluminium mini-pump is built much like a regular floor pump, delivering air quickly, while its relatively long hose gives you freedom with your positioning. The head then screws into the provided mount for clean and compact stowage so it fits comfortably into your backpack or frame mount (also supplied). Not just for pressure pedants, the Lezyne Micro Floor Drive HV has mass appeal!
The Lezyne Laser Drive taillight improves the visibility of cyclists by projecting two highly visible lines onto the ground in addition to the main rear light. This provides for added safety on the road and at traffic lights. The width of the lines on the road varies depending on the position of the light. Nine modes and two “laser-only modes” are available; depending on the mode you use, a full charge of the battery can provide between 2 ½ and 17 ½ hours of illumination. Bright city lighting and powerful car headlights can reduce the visibility of the laser stripes on the ground. Another important feature of the Lezyne Laser Drive is the 250-lumen Daytime Flash mode increasing daytime visibility and security. The simple installation of the light and its modern aesthetics round off this harmonious overall package.
Despite the fact that bells are a worthy safety feature to your ride, many riders still scorn the idea of blemishing their bike with a bulky model. Up until now there was a dearth of cool bells on the market, but fortunately Lezyne’s Classic Brass Bell collection has stepped up as the solution. Constructed from highly-polished brass, these retro-styled, high-quality bells are mounted onto a machined aluminium mount and will certainly appeal to the style-conscious rider. The collection comprises three models with varying shapes, ringtones, and volumes. Mounting and detaching the bells is really easy as they attach via a simple O-ring, so take sufficient measures if you’re leaving your bike in public spaces.
