ANDRÉ GREIPEL IN MAGLIA ROSA AFTER GIRO STAGE WIN

The Pink Gorilla

Andre Greipel, wearing bib number 100 for the 100th Giro d’ Italia, claimed his 22nd stage win in a Grand Tour. He sprinted his way to victory in stage two and received the coveted pink jersey for the first time in his career. During the stage, the Lezyne-sponsored Lotto Soudal team members kept Greipel strategically towards the front of the pack. Jasper De Buyst pulled the sprint rather early with an enormous effort and The Gorilla finished it off in style. “In the descent it was important to stay focused and not to be surprised by splits in the peloton. In the finale I pushed myself forward and with the support of my teammates I reached the front of the bunch,” Says Greipel. “For the team and myself this is very special.”
